You probably know me as the guy behind the tasting bar.  As owner of Peppers of Key West, I may have helped you choose between the hundreds of hot sauces that we carry.  Maybe you brought a drink or two into the store and stayed awhile at my tasting bar.  You probably don't know that I was also a Staff Sargent in the Marine Corp.  Having fought in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm, I've seen things I thought I'd never see, and things I hope I never see again. Both of these perspectives make Memorial Day incredibly special to me.   

Last Memorial Day we chose to forgo the typical sales pitch and focus on doing something to show our troops that we support them. We launched our Hot Sauce for the Troops program and it continues to be a resounding success. Thanks to you, our generous chiliheads, we have been able to ship hundreds of cases of hot sauce to troops in every branch of service and across the globe. We routinely receive letters thanking the customers and staff of Peppers for helping our troops know they are thought of and also for easing the monotony of eating the same food day in and day out (two of my favorites certificates are below!!).

This year, we're keeping with our tradition for Memorial Day and having a Hot Sauce for the Troops drive. Please consider visiting our website and spending a few bucks to support the troops. If you know a sailor, soldier, airman, Marine, or Coastie serving overseas, please send us their name and address to me (pete@peppersofkeywest.com) and I'll put them on my list to receive a package. I also work directly with base Public Relations Officers and the local VFW to get addresses for our service men and women stationed abroad.
