Old Fashioned Texas Pit BBQ Burgers

Texas is synonymous with barbecue and we honor that tradition with the authentic Texas Pit BBQ Sauce.  After years of sampling pit barbecue at Texas's most legendary joints we perfected a sauce that pays homage to those smokehouses while introducing a unique chili, the Pasilla de Oaxaca, that is medium-hot and known for it's rich flavor.  Enjoy!
Old-Fashioned Texas pit BBQ Burgers

Ingredients
        3 Pounds lean ground chuck
        1 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
        1/2 cup dehydrated onion flakes
        1/4 cup Texas Pit BBQ Sauce
        Additional Texas Pit BBQ Sauce for Basting

Suggested Condiments:
        Sliced Tomatoes
        Lettuce Leaves
        Pickles
        Avocados
        Crisp Bacon
        Cheddar Cheese
        Sliced Onions

Preheat grill to medium heat.  In a large bowl combine the ground chuck, black pepper, dehydrated onion flakes and 1/4 cup of the Texas Pit BBQ sauce.  Using your hands, blend the mixture well, distributing ingredients thoroughly.  Separate the meat mixture into 8 equal portions; pat meat into firm burgers.  Place burgers on preheated grill and cook, basting with additional Texas Pit BBQ sauce each time you turn the burger.  Grill for about 8 minutes per side.  To serve, assemble burgers with your favorite condiments.  Serves 8.
